Typical amperage draw based on motor size:

Motor Size 120 volts 240 volts
1/4 hp. 6 amp. 3 amp.
1/3 hp. 7 amp. 3½ amp.
1/2 hp. 10 amp. 5 amp.

Ceiling fan horse power ratings:

The majority of modern ceiling fans use less than an amp, averaging between 0.5 and 1 amp, depending on the model and the setting. One amp drawn by a ceiling fan is equivalent to about 120 watts. Low settings use less amperage while higher settings use more. Horse power ratings vary from 1/60 to 1/3 hp and should work with any ILLUMRA relays.
